THE STUDIO
ABOUT US
As a collaborative studio of architects, designers and technologists, ID Architecture is able to apply the talents of the most appropriate personnel to achieve design solutions that are both diverse and exceptional. All of our commissions are approached with pragmatism and broad thinking to achieve the highest quality service in respect to our design output and client experience. The reputation of id architecture as an eminent UK practice has grown as our work has continued to receive recognition through peer review, awards, and media interest. We are fortunate to enjoy high-profile, prestigious commissions enabling the practice to focus on our preferred work sectors of private residential projects, commercial housing, and workplace developments.
Through all ID Architecture projects, there is a consistent thread of rigor and attention to detail in our consideration of both the qualities of the site and the desires of its users. Before committing pen to paper, we take great care to fully understand the requirements of both the physical and human elements involved. This foundational approach ensures that our work not only meets but exceeds expectations, resulting in buildings that are not only unique but are also sensitive to their environment and harmonious with the needs of their occupants. The quality of our work and the strength of our reputation are a direct reflection of this careful, thoughtful approach.

THE PROCESS
We offer a flexible range of services tailored to suit your specific needs. Our goal is to support you from concept to completion—guiding your project through every key stage, including design, planning, technical development, and construction. By working with us throughout the entire process, you can be confident in the consistency, quality, and attention to detail that your project deserves.
All our services and packages are customised to your requirements. Following your initial consultation, we’ll provide a detailed, transparent quote outlining the scope of work and the support we’ll provide. Below is a brief overview of some of the key project stages we typically work through, following the RIBA Plan of Work.

DESIGN
Our design process begins with RIBA Stage 1: Preparation and Brief. Through detailed conversations, we work closely with you to define the project brief, establish priorities, and agree on key parameters such as budget, timeline, and aspirations. This early stage is critical for understanding your goals and laying the foundation for a successful project.
In Stage 2: Concept Design, we turn our focus to the site and its context. By exploring the physical environment and undertaking in-depth analysis, we gain a clear understanding of the site’s opportunities and constraints. We consider factors such as topography, access, sunlight, views, landscape, privacy, heritage considerations, and local character—ensuring that every aspect of the site informs the emerging design.
With this insight, we begin developing initial sketches, diagrams, and models to test ideas and explore spatial possibilities. These early concepts are refined through a collaborative, iterative process that continues into Stage 3: Developed Design. At this point, we engage with planning officers, conservation bodies, and other stakeholders to ensure the design aligns with regulatory requirements and local expectations.
This rigorous and responsive approach consistently leads to strong planning outcomes and successful, well-considered buildings that are both practical and inspiring.

TECHNICAL
At Stage 4: Technical Deisn, we develop the design into a comprehensive technical package ready for construction. This includes the preparation of detailed Building Regulations drawings and specifications, ensuring compliance with current legislation and industry standards. For both residential and commercial projects, we produce coordinated construction information that clearly defines materials, components, and building systems—providing a reliable foundation for accurate pricing and efficient on-site delivery.
We also manage the tender process on your behalf, inviting suitable contractors to quote for the works and assisting in the evaluation of their responses. Our goal is to secure a qualified builder who aligns with your project’s requirements in terms of cost, quality, and programme. By the end of this stage, you’ll have a robust set of information ready for construction and a clear route forward with your chosen contractor.

CONSTRUCTIoN TO COMPLETION
During RIBA Stage 5, we support the project through the construction phase, ensuring the design is delivered to the highest standard. We carry out regular site visits to monitor progress, answer contractor queries, and help resolve any unforeseen issues that arise on site. We also review technical submittals, assess compliance with the design intent, and manage design changes if needed.
Whether your project is residential or commercial, we act as your advocate—helping to maintain quality, control costs, and keep the works on track. If appointed as Contract Administrator, we manage key aspects of the building contract, including issuing instructions, certifying payments, and assessing practical completion.
At Stage 6, we oversee the final steps toward handover, ensuring any outstanding works or defects are addressed. We remain available post-completion to assist with the smooth transition into occupation and ongoing use of the building.
Our continued involvement during these final stages helps ensure your vision is fully realised and the finished building meets expectations.

THE PEOPLE
Our people are our most important asset. They are the ID Architecture family, and their wellbeing is at the core of our business. Like all families, we recognise the importance of a secure, supportive, and inclusive environment to ensure ours stays and grows together. We take our duties seriously and demand excellence from our team in all of their actions and output, but we aim to do this with humility, encouragement, and good humour.
At the heart of all we do is design, and every member is encouraged to contribute their ideas and aspirations across the spectrum of practice and projects. Above all, we believe a happy team is a productive team and commit to nurture this through inward investment, personal growth opportunities, flexible working practices, and a life outside of work.
