WHITE HART
Located in the quiet market town of Brigg, the Grade II listed White Hart is a former public house vacant since 2018. Purchased by White Venues Ltd in 2020, it was converted into a large Airbnb style venue for events such as weddings, family gatherings, and birthdays. The venue was extensively refurbished and sensitively extended to create an open plan function space with views of the River Ancholme and bedrooms above, accommodating 40 guests.

Replacing the former kitchen and cellar, the new two-storey extension is separated from the original structure by a glazed link on two sides, allowing it to sit harmoniously against the historic building while introducing natural light into circulation areas. The pub, its extension, and adjoining cottage were rendered in white lime. Modern windows and doors were replaced with traditional timber windows in sage green, creating a cohesive aesthetic. The original south facing beer garden was landscaped into a modern outdoor space using red brick, resin-bound surfaces, and perennial planting.
Internally, original features like the bar, fireplaces, stained glass lighting, and exposed beams were retained to preserve the traditional pub feel, central to the client’s ‘total pub takeover’ concept. ID Architecture delivered the interior design package, including finishes, furniture, and lighting. Each bedroom was named and styled after a historic Brigg pub, featuring bespoke prints.
This attention to detail extended throughout, including modern reinterpretations of original panelling that now flows through the staircase, hallways, and landings. The cohesive design allowed unique touches in areas like the cottage snugs. A traditional colour palette highlighted key features, especially in the bar and communal kitchen. Original furniture was repurposed, including a refurbished cellar door transformed into a coffee table for the snug. Since opening, the venue has hosted many events and gained national recognition, culminating in several award nominations.
“ID Architecture have captured our vision perfectly, successfully navigating the process for obtaining listed building consent and delivering a beautiful building for our guests to enjoy. The attention to detail is superb, perfectly and seamlessly blending the old with the new.”
